Heavy fighting erupted last night between the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) forces and the Turkish army near the border of Amedi, heightening fear and anxiety among local residents.

According to Channel8, the clashes took place in the village of Derelok, located in Duhok’s Amedi district, and persisted for an extended period, leaving the community in a state of distress.

The Turkish military has significantly increased its presence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, deploying a large number of soldiers and weapons, establishing several checkpoints, and intensifying airstrikes across various areas in the region.

The Iraqi Kurdistan team of the Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT) reported that Turkey aims to establish a security corridor extending from Shiladze district to Batifa district.

This line would encompass Dereluk, Bamarne, and Begova districts, effectively bringing all villages, townships, and natural resources within this area under Turkish military control.
