Kurdistan Presidency Denounces Disrespect of Religious Beliefs, Calls for Unity and Tolerance

The Kurdistan Region’s Presidency has strongly condemned any actions or statements that undermine or disrespect religious beliefs, emphasizing the need to avoid attributing the mistakes of a single individual to an entire community.

In a statement released on Friday, the Presidency addressed the recent uproar, especially on social media, following controversial remarks made by a Yazidi figure. The statement made it clear that any form of disrespect toward any ideology, belief, or religion is unacceptable and must be condemned.

The Presidency stressed that the errors of individuals should not lead to the stigmatization of entire religious groups. The statement urged the public to promote a culture of acceptance, tolerance, and coexistence, and warned against the spread of hate speech and denial.

Furthermore, the Presidency reaffirmed that it is the responsibility of the relevant authorities to ensure legal accountability. It highlighted that the Kurdistan Region remains a beacon of peaceful coexistence and brotherhood and condemned any efforts to create tension and disorder. The statement concluded by asserting that threats against citizens and religious or ethnic groups in Kurdistan are categorically unacceptable.
