A Peshmerga member sustained severe injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on their vehicle in the area between Tuz Khurmatu and Kafri, according to the Peshmerga Ministry.
The injured soldier, who was a resident of Khurmatu town, served in the third battalion of the 1st Joint Brigade of the Iraqi army.
In a separate incident on the night of September 15, 2024, security forces in Kirkuk attempted to apprehend two men who were on their wanted list.
The suspects, who were wearing explosive belts, detonated their devices when confronted by the security forces. One suspect was killed instantly, and the other died in the explosion, as confirmed by the Interior Ministry.
