Iraqi Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadel announced the signing of an agreement with Turkmenistan to secure a daily supply of 20 million cubic meters of gas, aimed at bolstering the country’s electricity infrastructure.

“This imported gas will enable the full operation of our gas-powered plants, ensuring stability for the national grid,” Fadel stated.

The gas will be delivered to Iraq through a swap mechanism involving Iran’s pipeline network, in cooperation with Switzerland-based Loxstone Energy.

Fadel highlighted that the agreement is the result of over a year of intensive efforts, including meetings, reciprocal visits, and a memorandum of understanding signed last year.
