The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced that it has submitted responses to 28 out of 41 appeals regarding the results of the sixth round of parliamentary elections to the Electoral Judiciary Board. Work is ongoing to prepare responses for the remaining appeals.
IHEC spokeswoman Jumana al-Ghalai stated, “Of the 41 appeals filed, the commission has forwarded responses to 28 of them to the Election Judiciary Board.”
The remaining appeals are being processed, and their responses will also be submitted to the judiciary upon completion.
Under IHEC’s regulations, the commission is required to respond to all appeals within seven working days and submit them to the judiciary for review.
Since the release of the official election results for the sixth Kurdistan Parliament session, political parties and candidates have filed a total of 41 appeals: 25 in Sulaymaniyah, 12 in Erbil, three in Duhok, and one in Halabja.
