The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, held a meeting with Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji in Sulaymaniyah’s Dabashan.
The discussion focused on strengthening coordination between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraqi security forces.
The meeting was also attended by Jalal Sheikh Naji, Head of the Parastin and Zanyari Agency, and Hiwa Ahmad, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Security Agency.
During the talks, Talabani emphasized the importance of protecting civilian lives and maintaining regional stability.
“All efforts should be made to safeguard people’s lives and prevent any opportunity for terrorist activities or security breaches,” he stated.
He also expressed sorrow over recent violence in Tuz Khurmatu, where a Peshmerga commander, an officer, and an Iraqi army soldier lost their lives, with several others injured.
“This tragic incident underscores the need for stricter and more effective measures to address security threats,” Talabani remarked, urging all parties to take proactive steps to mitigate risks.
