IHEC Confirms Rejection of All Appeals Against Kurdistan Parliamentary Elections

The Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) has announced the final resolution of all appeals filed against the results of the sixth round of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Channel8, IHEC spokeswoman Jumana al-Ghalai confirmed, “The Election Judiciary Board has rejected all 41 appeals filed against the Kurdistan parliamentary elections.” She elaborated that 38 appeals were dismissed earlier, with the remaining three also rejected on November 16, 2024.

“The decisions on the appeals were issued in two phases, on November 8 and 11, 2024,” al-Ghalai explained. The Election Judiciary Board reviewed 41 appeals submitted by political parties and candidates following the announcement of the official election results. These appeals were geographically distributed, with 25 filed in Sulaymaniyah, 12 in Erbil, three in Duhok, and one in Halabja.

The dismissal of all appeals confirms the validity of the election results, as declared by the IHEC.
