Customs revenues at Baghdad International Airport have surged by an impressive 400% following the introduction of advanced automation systems, according to Ammar Munem, head of the Government Communications Team.
Munem emphasized that the deployment of electronic systems has significantly enhanced revenue collection in key sectors such as oil derivatives, taxes, and customs.
“The integration of electronic systems has substantially increased revenues and transaction volumes,” he stated. “At Baghdad Airport, customs revenues have quadrupled, and Basra has also seen a 200% increase. These advancements are part of broader plans to expand automation across the country.”
Munem highlighted that the success of these initiatives relies on creating a supportive environment, enacting suitable legislative frameworks, and developing advanced technological infrastructure, efforts that are steadily progressing.
