PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani Strengthens Ties with Germany in High-Level Meetings

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held a series of high-level meetings in Germany aimed at fostering stronger political and economic relations between Kurdistan and Germany.

In one meeting, Talabani met with Prof. Dr. Volker Perthes, a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). Dr. Perthes, a longtime visitor to Kurdistan, was accompanied by Darbaz Kosrat Rasool, Head of the PUK Relations Bureau.

Talabani provided an overview of “the latest developments in Kurdistan and Iraq, emphasizing Germany’s critical role in supporting regional security and stability.”

 He also highlighted opportunities for Germany to partner with Kurdistan in economic development to promote prosperity and job creation.

In a separate meeting held at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, Talabani engaged with HE Dr. Tobias Lindner, Germany’s Minister of State.

The discussion, attended by Darbaz Kosrat Rasool, “focused on the Kurdistan elections, the achievements of the PUK, and the importance of maintaining robust engagement between the two governments.”

 The leaders explored avenues for future commercial partnerships and initiatives to empower Kurdistan’s youth with greater opportunities.
