Iraqi Parliamentary Delegation Seeks Enhanced Trade and Economic Cooperation with Poland

A parliamentary delegation led by Falih Al-Khazaali, Chairman of the Agriculture Committee, engaged in discussions on Tuesday to bolster trade and economic ties between Iraq and Poland.

The delegation included members from the Agriculture, Water and Marshlands, and Economy, Industry and Trade Committees, emphasizing the need for mutual benefit and advocating for the establishment of a Polish embassy in Baghdad.

According to a statement from Iraq’s Parliament media department, the delegation held talks with Szumowski, head of the Office of Cooperation with Foreign Affairs and Vice President of the Union, along with senior officials. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, industry, and agriculture.

The two sides proposed organizing a joint economic conference involving businessmen, suppliers, and specialized committees, alongside the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of Industries, to strengthen economic ties. Field visits and business meetings were also highlighted as key steps toward enhancing relations.

Szumowski expressed readiness to advance trade and agricultural agreements, including facilitating visa procedures for Iraqi businessmen to visit projects in Poland. Al-Khazaali emphasized conducting a comprehensive study to explore investment opportunities, calling for practical recommendations to overcome obstacles and deepen bilateral relations.

Al-Khazaali also highlighted Iraq’s rich agricultural heritage and investment potential, supported by favorable laws and improved security conditions. He underscored the importance of increasing trade volumes, urging the establishment of a Polish embassy and branches of Polish companies in Iraq, as well as easing market access for Iraqi traders in Poland.
