On December 3rd, 2024, iNNOV8 delegation participated in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Erbil Physical Rehabilitation Centre organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The event focused on drawing greater attention to the ongoing needs of people with disabilities on the annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd.

In Iraq, 15% of the population are labelled as persons with disabilities due to the decades of war and escalating violence. Among this number, more than 600,000 Iraqi individuals require special needs and support.
The ICRC plays a pivotal role in assisting persons with disabilities in Iraq, particularly through its Physical Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) in Erbil. Established in 1996, this center has become the largest of its kind in the country, offering comprehensive services to enhance mobility and promote social inclusion. The ICRC has assisted 5,882 persons with disabilities in 2024, providing 411 prosthetic limbs, 2,283 mobility aids, and delivering 13,505 sessions of physiotherapy.
The ICRC plays a vital role in Iraq, particularly in addressing the long-term impacts of war and instability. Its Geneva Convention mandate and neutral stance allows ICRC to work across divided regions and communities.
