Mediators presented a final draft of a deal to Israel and Hamas on Monday, aiming to end the war in Gaza, following midnight negotiations that included U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy.

The official revealed that Qatar presented the text for a ceasefire and hostage release during talks in Doha, attended by Israeli intelligence officials, Qatar’s prime minister, and Egypt’s intelligence head, according to Reuters.

The next 24 hours are critical for finalizing the deal, following significant progress made early Monday, the official said.

Steve Witkoff, who is set to become the U.S. envoy when Trump takes office next week, participated in the talks, the official noted.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told Bloomberg News earlier today that the Biden administration is hopeful for a Gaza agreement this week.

Israeli radio station Kan, citing an Israeli official, reported that both Israeli and Hamas delegations in Qatar received the draft, with the Israeli delegation briefing Israel’s leaders. Neither Israel, Hamas, nor Qatar’s foreign ministry responded to requests for comment or confirmation.
