The Anti-Narcotics Directorate announced the arrest of two drug dealers and the prevention of a plot to smuggle drugs from Sulaymaniyah to the UK.
The Kurdistan Region’s Anti-Narcotics Directorate revealed in a statement that, following an investigation and the collection of intelligence, they were able to uncover various plans to transport and conceal drugs, leading to the arrest of two traffickers under the orders of the security (Asayish) investigation judge.
The Directorate confirmed that more than 0.5 kilograms of opium were seized in Sulaymaniyah, which had been smuggled from abroad, initially brought into Kurdistan, and planned to be sent first to Australia and then to the UK.
The statement further mentioned that the suspects are currently held under Article 25 of the Law against Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, with investigations ongoing.
