Two Palestinian sources close to the ongoing negotiations in Doha have revealed that Hamas and Islamic Jihad have agreed to a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner and hostage exchange deal.
A source told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that “Hamas and Islamic Jihad informed the mediators of their approval of the final draft of the ceasefire agreement and the prisoner exchange deal.” Another source confirmed that “Hamas delivered to Israel through the mediators the positive response… after agreeing on all points and details.”
One source added that Hamas has received maps detailing Israeli withdrawals, as agreed upon in the first phase of the agreement. “No point needs to be negotiated anymore,” the source stated, noting that mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and the United States will issue a joint statement announcing the agreement after it is signed by Hamas and Israel in Doha. The statement will also include guarantees for its implementation.
Hamas reportedly consulted with resistance factions, including the Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front, the Democratic Front, and the Popular Front-General Command. These groups expressed their approval of the agreement, emphasizing the need to “stop the aggression and war in order to protect our people.”
The agreement is expected to be signed by Hamas and Israel shortly, though no specific date has been confirmed. Once signed, the focus will shift to implementing the agreed-upon terms.
