The US State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs expressed its support for the meeting between Masoud Barzani and Mazloum Abdi.
“The United States welcomed the January 16 meeting between Kurdistan Democratic Party President Masoud Barzani and Syrian Democratic Forces Commander General Mazloum Abdi,” the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs stated on its X platform.
Emphasizing the significance of unity and dialogue, the Bureau added, “Intra-Kurdish dialogue can play a critical role in bolstering an inclusive political transition in Syria.”
On January 16, Mazloum Abdi visited the Kurdistan Region and met with Masoud Barzani in Erbil. Earlier, the US State Department told Channel8 that it welcomed the meeting and highlighted the importance of dialogue between Kurdish parties as crucial for ensuring strong Kurdish representation in Syria.
