Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with a high-level Russian delegation led by Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, at the PUK Political Bureau headquarters in Erbil.
The meeting highlighted the importance of developing relations between the two sides at all levels within the framework of protecting the highest interests. It was attended by Rafaat Abdullah and Dr. Hawre Sheikh Daro, members of the Political Bureau, Dara Khaylani, Head of Foreign Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Omar Salih, Commander of the 70 Forces, and Polo Shalaw Ali Askari, Director of the Peshmerga Intelligence Agency.
During the meeting, President Bafel Jalal Talabani reaffirmed the PUK’s commitment to expanding cooperation and coordination to serve shared goals, emphasizing the PUK’s support for any partnerships and collaborative efforts that benefit the country and regional stability.
He highlighted the desire to strengthen the relationship established by President Mam Jalal and to further develop it in all areas for the betterment of the region.
The discussion also covered political and military developments in the Middle East and Iraq, particularly in Syria, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and security in the region through dialogue and national mechanisms to resolve issues.
The meeting called for respecting the will and rights of all nations and communities, particularly in Syria and West Kurdistan, with a focus on safeguarding Kurdish rights and contributing to the construction of a new Syria.
President Bafel outlined the PUK’s strategic approach to all ongoing changes and challenges, emphasizing the party’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of issues and the creation of balanced relations among all parties to protect the country from conflict and war.
