Dana Gas Resumes Development of Khor Mor 250 Project, Set to Boost Gas Production by 250 Million Cubic Feet Per Day

Dana Gas, based in the UAE, has confirmed the resumption of development on the Khor Mor 250 project.

The company announced that full-scale operations restarted in December, with gas production expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.

Upon completion, the Khor Mor 250 project will contribute an additional 250 million cubic feet of gas per day to the Khor Mor plant’s overall production capacity, significantly boosting Dana Gas’s output and financial performance.

Currently, the Khor Mor facilities provide 500 million cubic feet of gas per day to four power plants, generating around 2,800 megawatts of electricity, which accounts for 75% of the Kurdistan Region’s total electricity production.

The Khor Mor gas field, located in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah, is Iraq’s largest gas-producing site, covering an area of 135 square kilometers. With 8.2 trillion cubic feet of reserves, it is crucial for meeting 67% of the electricity demand in the Kurdistan Region. Despite its importance, production has faced disruptions from attacks, delaying expansion plans. The field is operated by a Dana Gas-led consortium.
