12,000 ISIS Fighters in Prisons, 39,000 ISIS Relatives, Including Many Iraqis, in Rojava Camps

There are 26 prisons in northern and eastern Syria, housing ISIS fighters and under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Statistics show that these prisons in northern and eastern Syria hold 12,000 ISIS fighters, with individuals carrying identities from numerous countries.

Sheikhmus Ahmed, Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration (AANES) Office of IDPs and Refugee Affairs, told Channel8 that around 39,000 relatives of ISIS fighters are living in refugee camps in Rojava, including a significant number of Iraqis.

He further explained that the camps also house relatives of ISIS’s foreign fighters, including 1,897 foreign families, totaling 6,358 individuals.

Sheikhmus Ahmed mentioned that the relatives of ISIS fighters have been settled in the al-Hol and Roj camps.

According to him, al-Hol camp is home to 15,681 Iraqis, distributed among 4,505 families.

There are 15,861 Syrians residing in al-Hol, divided into 4,371 families, he added.

Sheikhmus Ahmed also noted that 15 Syrian families, totaling 75 individuals, 29 Iraqi families, with 135 people, and 2,271 foreigners, organized into 774 families, are living in the Roj camp.
