Three Syrian soldiers were killed in a bombing carried out by Lebanese Hezbollah, as the Syrian transitional government’s Defense Ministry deployed troops to the Lebanese border.
The ministry later confirmed to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that Hezbollah had ‘ambushed and captured three Syrian Arab Army members on the Syrian-Lebanese border near the Zeita Dam, west of Homs.’
The ministry added that it will take all necessary actions in response to the incident.
SANA also reported that the Syrian army has increased artillery shelling on Hezbollah positions along the Lebanese border following the missile attack that killed Syrian soldiers in the border village of al-Qazila.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese army handed over the bodies of the three soldiers to Syrian security forces via the Red Cross at the Jusiyah border crossing, as reported by the Lebanese National News Agency.
Lebanese media also reported that some residents of the border regions were displaced due to the intensified bombings.
Hezbollah denied any role in the clashes with Syrian security forces or in Syrian territory, asserting it had no link to the events on the Lebanese-Syrian border.
