Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said on Monday that the content of U.S. President Donald Trump’s letter closely mirrors his public statements, as it “repeats the same talking points.”

Baghaei added that Iran would respond to the letter “after full scrutiny.”

Earlier, Nasser Kanaani confirmed that Iran is reviewing the letter, with a response expected after thorough evaluation.

Kanaani emphasized, “We will not enter direct negotiations unless there is equality, free from pressure and threats,” urging the U.S. to lift sanctions.

Donald Trump stated on March 7 that he had sent a letter to Iran’s leadership urging negotiations on a nuclear deal, claiming Iran would welcome the letter and that failure to negotiate would result in action. He added, “We can make a deal that would be just as good as if you won militarily.”

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei dismissed Trump’s call for talks, calling it “deceptive” and noting that negotiations with the current U.S. administration would not lead to sanctions relief.
