Nechirvan Barzani Arrives in Paris for Meeting with Macron to Discuss Relations and “Collaborative Efforts”

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani attended the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and met with French President Emmanuel Macron on December 7, 2024.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Paris on Sunday and is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday.

In a statement, the Kurdistan Region Presidency said the two leaders will “discuss the relationship between France, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, as well as their collaborative efforts.”

The statement further noted that they will share insights on counter-terrorism initiatives and the current situation in the Middle East.

Barzani had arrived in Antalya on Friday to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF). During the event, he held discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and several other leaders and officials from various countries.

On December 7 of last year, Nechirvan Barzani participated in the reopening ceremony of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, where he also met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
