Harry Kane Says Bundesliga Title with Bayern Munich Was "Worth the Wait" After Years of Heartbreak

England captain Harry Kane has finally lifted his first major club trophy, declaring it “worth the wait” after helping Bayern Munich secure the Bundesliga title on Saturday with a 2-0 home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Kane opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a powerful header—his 25th league goal of the season—setting the tone for Bayern’s decisive victory at the Allianz Arena.
Speaking to Sky Germany after the match, the 31-year-old striker said:
“It’s a long time coming. It’s cold out, but there will definitely be more celebrations today.”
First Trophy After Years of Near Misses
Kane’s title win comes after a career filled with narrow defeats. He previously lost six finals—three with Tottenham Hotspur, two with England, and one earlier this season with Bayern Munich. He also finished second in the Premier League during his time at Spurs.
The long-awaited moment of glory came last Sunday when Bayern mathematically clinched the league title following a 2-2 draw between Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg, but the celebrations reached full force after Saturday’s home win.
“It’s an incredible feeling… it was worth the wait,” Kane said, visibly emotional.
“There’s been a lot of hard work and sacrifice for moments like this—to enjoy them with the team and the fans. I love every minute.”
Looking Ahead: “The First of Many”
Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham last summer, praised his new club’s ambition and unity.
“We have a great team and a great manager, and yes, we feel we’re building something special. We’ll enjoy this, but hopefully it’s just the beginning.”
Tribute to Eric Dier
Kane also acknowledged Eric Dier, his longtime friend and former England teammate, who is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer. Like Kane, Dier also secured the first league title of his career with the win.
“To share this with Eric, someone I’ve played with for years, makes it even more special,” Kane added.
