The German Foreign Ministry has welcomed the PKK’s decision to dissolve itself, calling it “an important step toward ending violence in Turkey and the broader region.”

In a statement to Channel8, the ministry emphasized that a long-term resolution to the PKK issue requires Turkey to respect the cultural and democratic rights of its Kurdish population.

“The PKK’s pledge to begin a new political process within Turkey presents a critical opportunity. It is now the responsibility of Turkey’s leadership to move this forward constructively,” the ministry stated.

Germany has long maintained that political inclusion and the protection of minority rights are essential to sustainable peace and regional stability.
