Iraqi Foreign Ministry Responds to PKK Disarmament, Calls for Review of Foreign Intervention Justifications

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Monday welcomed the PKK's decision to disarm and disband, urging a review of the justifications for foreign intervention in Iraqi territory.
The Ministry described the PKK's decision to cease armed conflict and disarm as a “positive and important step” toward establishing security and stability in Iraq and the broader region.
Iraq views the dissolution of the PKK as a critical opportunity to advance the peace process and end the long-standing conflicts that have impacted the region's populations.
The government emphasized the need to resolve security challenges through dialogue and understanding, aiming to fulfill the aspirations of the region's people for peace and development.
Following its 12th Congress, the PKK declared the end of its armed struggle and the dissolution of its organizational structure, calling for political engagement and stressing the need for leadership, legal guarantees, and recognition of political rights to peacefully resolve the Kurdish issue.
