Samsung Launches Ultra-Slim Galaxy S25 Edge, Undercutting the S25 Ultra in Price and Size

Samsung officially unveiled its Galaxy S25 Edge on Monday, introducing one of the slimmest smartphones in the industry to date.
Measuring just 5.8mm thick and weighing 163g, the device is 30% thinner and 25% lighter than the company’s flagship S25 Ultra, yet it retains many premium features.
Priced at $1,099, the Galaxy S25 Edge slots between the $999 S25 Plus and the $1,299 S25 Ultra, offering a lighter alternative with flagship-level specifications.
Slim Yet Premium: Design Meets Power
Despite its ultra-slim profile, the S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch display, a titanium frame, 12GB of RAM, and storage options of 256GB and 512GB. It also comes equipped with a 200-megapixel rear camera and enhanced AI-powered software, making it one of the most feature-rich lightweight devices on the market.
Samsung confirmed the device does not support the S Pen and omits 1TB storage and telephoto lenses found on the S25 Ultra. However, the Edge is likely to appeal to users prioritizing design and portability over maximum hardware specifications.
Battery Trade-offs and AI Optimization
One major concern with slim smartphones is battery capacity, and the S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh battery, slightly smaller than the 4,000 mAh in the base S25 and significantly lower than the 5,000 mAh in the Ultra model.
Still, Samsung claims that software-level AI optimizations extend battery life beyond that of last year’s Galaxy S24, allowing the phone to last a full day on a single charge.
Strategic Manufacturing and Market Positioning
The device is manufactured in South Korea, Vietnam, and India—not in China, where key rival Apple produces most of its devices. According to a Bloomberg report, Samsung set the $1,099 price tag independently of international tariffs.
The launch of the S25 Edge comes just months ahead of Apple’s expected release of the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to feature a similar thickness but fewer camera capabilities.
Samsung first teased the S25 Edge in January without confirming specifications or pricing, making this week’s full reveal a significant moment for fans of slim, high-performance smartphones.
