Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to follow up on the final arrangements for the Arab Summit and the Economic and Development Summit, both scheduled to be held in Baghdad on Saturday.

According to a statement from his office, the Prime Minister reviewed the full scope of preparations, including security, administrative, logistical, organizational, and technical plans aimed at ensuring the success of the upcoming events. He emphasized that the summits represent a milestone in Iraq’s regional diplomacy and a reflection of its pivotal role in the Arab world.

Al-Sudani instructed all state institutions to intensify their coordination and operational efforts within their respective mandates. “This summit is a national responsibility and an opportunity to showcase Iraq’s readiness and leadership in the region,” he said.

In a parallel effort, Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari, who also serves as Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee for the Arab Summit, led an expanded security meeting earlier on Tuesday. The session brought together ministry undersecretaries, top commanders, and officers to finalize security protocols for the summit.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior said the meeting included a comprehensive review of coordination measures among Iraq’s various security formations. The goal, officials said, is to ensure maximum protection, smooth logistics, and to present a stable and welcoming image of Iraq to regional and international guests.

Minister al-Shammari stressed the importance of professionalism, discipline, and unified efforts, calling for continuous drills and attention to detail in the final days of preparation. “The success of this summit is a shared responsibility that requires the highest level of commitment from all sides,” he noted.

The dual summits are expected to bring together Arab leaders and economic policymakers to discuss regional cooperation, development strategies, and pressing geopolitical challenges.
