US Central Command Aids SDF and Iraqi Forces in Six Defeat ISIS Operations Across Syria and Iraq

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it provided support to partner forces, including Syrian Democratic Forces and Iraqi forces, in operations across Syria and Iraq from May 21 to 27 as part of the ongoing Defeat ISIS campaign.
CENTCOM reaffirmed its continued commitment to combating ISIS. Commander Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla stated, “Operations like these underscore the commitment of USCENTCOM, along with our allies and partners, to the enduring defeat of ISIS in the region.”
The command reported that its forces carried out six Defeat ISIS operations—five in Iraq and one in Syria—resulting in two ISIS operatives killed, two detained including a leader, and the recovery of multiple weapons.
“The operations served to disrupt and degrade ISIS' ability to reconstitute, plan, organize, and conduct attacks against civilians and U.S. and partner forces in the region,” CENTCOM said.
According to the statement, from May 21-22, Syrian Democratic Forces, supported by CENTCOM, conducted a Defeat ISIS operation near Deir Ezzor, capturing an ISIS operative.
From May 21-27, Iraqi forces backed by CENTCOM conducted Defeat ISIS operations in Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, and Al-Fallujah, clearing multiple sites, seizing weapons, killing two militants, and capturing an ISIS leader.
