Trump Urges Evacuation of Tehran, Cuts G7 Visit Short Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly departed from the Group of Seven summit on Monday, leaving Canada a day early as tensions in the Middle East surged.
Trump hinted at deeper American involvement in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, issuing a stark warning that Tehran should evacuate.
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump posted on Truth Social, following a day of talks with world leaders about diplomatic solutions to the crisis.
The White House quickly followed up the dramatic statement. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Trump would be heading back to Washington late Monday “due to the crisis,” foregoing planned meetings in Kananaskis with leaders from Ukraine and Mexico.
While Trump has so far refrained from confirming any direct U.S. military role, he left reporters with an ominous clue before his departure: “As soon as I leave here, we're going to be doing something. But I have to leave here.”
Despite promoting diplomacy, Trump has consistently supported Israeli military action, praising recent strikes that targeted Iranian military and nuclear facilities. Iran, in turn, has responded with drone and missile attacks on Israel.
Meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney earlier in the day, Trump warned Tehran of the consequences of refusing talks. “It's painful for both parties, but I'd say Iran is not winning this war, and they should talk, and they should talk immediately, before it's too late,” he said.
