Qatar Airways Restores Flights to Iraq as Regional Airspace Reopens

Qatar Airways has announced the full reinstatement of its services to Iraq after the reopening of Iraqi airspace, which had been closed due to heightened regional tensions.
Earlier this month, the airline suspended operations following escalating hostilities between Iran and Israel. “The widespread airspace closures and flight cancellations forced us to temporarily halt flights to Iraq,” the airline confirmed.
Now that restrictions have been lifted, flights will resume in phases. Services to Baghdad are set to restart on June 30, followed by Erbil on July 1. Flights to Sulaymaniyah and Najaf will recommence on July 2, while Basra operations will resume on July 3.
Last week, Qatar faced direct attacks, which “further impacted regional aviation and forced the temporary suspension of several routes.”
The airline emphasised that Iraq remains a vital part of its network. “As security circumstances improve, we are working quickly to reestablish our services to this crucial Middle Eastern destination,” a spokesperson said.
