Tuncer Bakirhan, Co-Chair of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), stressed the urgent need to form the Kurdistan Regional Government, saying the Kurdish people remain at the center of all scenarios in the Middle East.

During a speech at a meeting of his party’s parliamentary group, Bakirhan said the region faces a crossroads between “endless wars and ethnic-religious tensions” and “democratic unity and freedom in the Middle East.” He added, “We want to build a democratic, free life in the Middle East.”

He also emphasized the critical role of the Kurdish people in regional dynamics and the urgency of government formation in Kurdistan Region.

“Any step taken in the region is very important. We hope that the formation of the government in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region will be completed as soon as possible. Elections have been held for months but no government has been formed,” he said. “While the Kurdish people are at the center of all scenarios in the Middle East, the establishment of a Regional Government is of vital importance.”

Bakirhan further noted that ensuring internal stability and democracy for the peoples in the region, especially the Kurds, “can create an important ground.”
