The Kremlin stated on Wednesday that halting some U.S. military aid to Ukraine would bring the end of the war closer, while Ukraine warned that any delays in such aid could reinforce Russia’s resolve.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, “In any case, the fewer the number of weapons that are delivered to Ukraine, the closer the end of the special military operation.”

Regarding the phone call between President Putin and French President Macron after nearly three years, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was at the French side’s request, during which Putin said the Ukrainian conflict is “a direct consequence of the policy of Western states,” adding that Western countries “ignored” Moscow’s security interests.

The Kremlin’s comments on military aid follow a statement by White House spokesperson Anna Kelly on Tuesday, who said, “This decision was made to put America’s interests first following a review of our nation’s military support and assistance to other countries across the globe.”

The US has sent billions in military aid to Ukraine since February 2022, raising concerns about low stockpiles among some US administration officials. However, Kelly added that the strength of the US Armed Forces remains “unquestioned.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s foreign ministry said it summoned the deputy chief of the U.S. embassy in Kyiv to a meeting, warning that any delays in U.S. military aid to Ukraine would "encourage" Russia.

“The Ukrainian side stressed that any delay or procrastination in supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities would only encourage the aggressor to continue the war,” the ministry said.

Ukrainian presidential aide Dmytro Lytvyn also said they are clarifying the situation and expressed confidence that all details will become clear in the coming days.
