Two sources familiar with the matter told Axios that U.S. White House envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Oslo next week to relaunch nuclear negotiations.

While the meeting is not yet finalized, and neither Washington nor Tehran has publicly confirmed it, the sources noted that direct communication between Witkoff and Araghchi resumed following the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.

The United States reportedly informed Israel of these contacts, which are aimed at launching a sixth round of negotiations, according to Channel 12 News. The talks would mark the first direct engagement since President Donald Trump ordered U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June.

Officials from Oman and Qatar are said to continue playing a key mediating role. A White House spokesperson told Axios, “We have no travel announcements at this time.”

Washington and Tehran previously held five rounds of indirect discussions, primarily in Muscat and Rome, aimed at reviving a diplomatic framework for Iran’s nuclear program. These efforts were disrupted by Israel’s June 22 strikes on Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure, which triggered a retaliatory missile barrage from Iran and ultimately led to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire.

If held, the Oslo meeting could signal a renewed attempt to stabilize regional tensions and address the future of Iran’s nuclear ambitions through diplomacy.
