The Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has denied reports circulating in Iranian media claiming that an Israeli base in Erbil was targeted by a drone attack overnight.

In an official statement issued on Friday, the ministry clarified:

“These reports are completely false and misleading. There are no Israeli bases in the Kurdistan Region, and no such operations have taken place.”

The ministry confirmed that a drone had crashed in a desert area near Erbil on Thursday night but stressed that the incident had no connection to any Israeli presence.

“These attacks are being carried out by certain groups affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) with the intent to create unrest,” the statement added.

The KRG Interior Ministry called on the relevant authorities in Iraq’s federal government to take immediate legal action against those responsible:

“It is essential to put an end to these destructive actions, which threaten regional stability.”
