U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that Washington will continue to help Kyiv defend itself, adding he was “very unhappy” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

While aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters, “I was very unhappy with my call with President Putin, and it just seems like he wants to go all the way and just keep killing people.”

He confirmed that the U.S. will continue to support Ukraine, describing it as a “pretty tough situation.”

Asked about the possibility of sending more Patriot missiles to Ukraine, Trump mentioned that Ukraine needs them “for defense. I mean, they want to. I don't want to see people killed.” He also noted that the U.S. might send additional Patriot systems, saying, “We are looking at it.”

Earlier on Thursday, Trump said he did not make any progress with Putin regarding efforts to resolve the conflict and added he was “very disappointed.”

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he discussed opportunities in air defense, remarking, “We agreed that we will work together to strengthen protection of our skies.”

The Kremlin stated it cannot currently achieve its goals in Ukraine through diplomacy and will continue its offensive until a political solution is possible.

Last week, the U.S. halted some military aid to Ukraine. The Kremlin said halting the aid would bring the end of the war closer, while Ukraine warned that delays could reinforce Russia’s resolve.
