Autism Spectrum Disorder in KRI: Early Intervention and Support

In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, many families are navigating the challenges of raising autistic children without the support they urgently need.
These children continue to face delayed diagnoses, limited services, and social stigma.
While the global standard emphasizes early diagnosis and intervention, many children in the region miss out due to high cost of private services, a shortage of qualified professionals, and poor coordination between ministries regarding autism services. This means many children go undiagnosed or receive delayed care, often missing the critical window for effective support.
iNNOV8 Research Center investigates the path forward for autism care in the Kurdistan Region. Drawing on expert insight, the research calls for inclusive education strategies, localized therapy models, and awareness campaigns that promote acceptance and timely care.
