A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck North Kurdistan’s Malatya province on Wednesday at 10:46 a.m. local time, with the epicenter located in the Kale district, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

The tremor, occurring at a depth of 10.07 kilometers, was felt across several nearby provinces, including Diyarbakir, Tunceli, and Elazig, causing widespread concern among residents.

Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Sami Er stated that no significant issues had been reported so far, and field assessments are ongoing to evaluate the impact of the earthquake.
