The Kurdistan Region Ministry of Construction and Housing is implementing a large-scale master plan to expand and upgrade roadway infrastructure. Multiple strategic projects worth more than four trillion dinars are currently underway, resulting in the construction or rehabilitation of over 3,000 kilometers of roads.

Although the government abolished the 10% tax on restaurants and cafes a year ago, many venues are now collecting the same amount from customers under the label of a “service” fee. The practice has triggered public backlash, prompting the hospitality association to launch an investigation.

The issue of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets held in global banks has once again become a central point of contention and backchannel negotiations between Tehran and Washington. This comes amid significant discrepancies between domestic and international estimates of the total value of these funds.

Currency exchange activity in the Kurdistan Region’s markets continues to face multiple challenges. While small-denomination U.S. dollars have become increasingly scarce due to outbound flows, differences in the value of various types of dollar banknotes continue to create financial losses for citizens.

He stressed that foreign oil investments in Iraq's Kurdistan Region “are essential to Iraq’s economy—especially while the Strait of Hormuz remains closed.”

He further stressed that the implementation of the ASYCUDA system remains the primary driver keeping the dollar's value elevated.
