The Syrian transitional government has issued guidelines and procedures for passport issuance and renewal, both domestically and internationally. These directives have been sent to all Syrian provinces, except for Raqqa and al-Hasakah, which are governed by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

According to a statement from the Immigration and Passport Department of the Syrian Interior Ministry, the new passports will have a validity of six years for all age groups. However, previously issued passports will remain valid until their expiration date.

The statement also mentioned that Syrian citizens residing abroad have the right to apply for passport issuance and renewal through their relatives or other legal representatives in Syria.

All passport offices in Syria have been notified of these regulations, except for those in Raqqa and al-Hasakah. The statement cited the lack of necessary equipment in these areas, as the old equipment has been damaged.

The new guidelines specify the fees for passport issuance. An ordinary passport will cost 312,700 Syrian pounds and will be processed within 30 to 45 days. An urgent passport will cost 422,700 Syrian pounds and will be issued within 15 days, while a VIP passport, which will be completed in just two days, will cost 2,010,700 Syrian pounds.

As per the statement, Syrian citizens abroad must have a bank account, enter their personal details through the electronic platform, and make payments electronically. The fee for an ordinary passport is set at $300, while the expedited service will cost $800.
