Iraq has awarded a major city project, comprising nearly 120,000 housing units, to Egypt’s Mountain View Company, China Railway, and the Iraqi firm Al-Safi Group.

The "Palm City" project, located in Basra province, was approved by the Iraqi cabinet as part of broader urban development initiatives across the country.

In addition to residential units, the project will include hospitals, commercial centers, roads, power infrastructure, industrial zones, and green spaces, according to Basra Governor Asaad Al-Idani.

“The project has been in planning for 10 years. It has now been approved and awarded to these investors,” Al-Idani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on Sunday.
