AANES Foreign Relations Department Co-Chair Ilham Ahmed said the constitutional declaration violated the SDF-Syrian agreement, stressing that Kurdish rights must be guaranteed.

Ilham Ahmed told Channel8 that, according to the agreement between Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa and SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi, Kurdish rights should be guaranteed in the constitution. However, she added that the subsequent constitutional declaration violated the terms of the agreement.

She emphasized that the national dialogue must give serious attention to this issue and called for the formation of a committee in the future to work on correcting the mistakes that have been made.

On March 10, SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi and Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed an eight-point agreement, in which they stressed national unity and the integration of the SDF into the institutions of the Syrian Arab Republic, in addition to forming a joint committee to implement the agreement by the end of the year.
