Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Staff Major General Omar Salih, Commander of Unit 70 Forces, on Tuesday in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

According to a statement, the meeting addressed efforts to “reunite the Peshmerga forces, the security situation and the threat of terrorism and ISIS threats to security and peace in Iraq.”

President Talabani emphasized the importance of unifying the Peshmerga, saying, “We are in favor of Kurdistan having a strong national force.”

He added that “we will do our best to remove the obstacles to the unification of the Peshmerga.”

Highlighting the fight against ISIS, Talabani stressed the necessity of ongoing cooperation between the Peshmerga forces, the Iraqi army, and Coalition Forces “to ensure the defeat and complete destruction of terrorists.”
