AANES and Syrian Transitional Government Meet in Damascus to Advance March 10 Agreement
A delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and representatives of the Syrian Transitional Government convened in Damascus on Sunday to discuss the implementation of the March 10 agreement between SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi and Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
In a statement, the AANES delegation described the meeting as “positive and constructive,” noting that discussions centered on the formation of a special sub-committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the agreement.
The statement added that the talks also addressed efforts to resolve remaining issues related to examinations and examination centers, with an emphasis on ensuring the rights of all students.
The delegations further discussed facilitating the return of displaced individuals to their areas and removing any barriers hindering the process.
According to the AANES, the situation in Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods was also discussed, with both sides expressing commitment to resolving the matter in the interest of stability and peaceful coexistence.
Both delegations underscored the importance of maintaining dialogue and coordination, stressing their shared goal to preserve Syria’s integrity and sovereignty while meeting the aspirations of its people.
This visit follows three previous coordination meetings held on March 19, April 12, and late last week.
On March 10, Mazloum Abdi and Ahmed al-Sharaa signed an eight-point agreement in Damascus. The deal includes provisions to guarantee Kurdish rights within the constitution, promote national unity, and outline the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into Syrian state institutions, among other components.
