U.S. Embassy in Baghdad appoints Steven Fagin as chargé d’affaires

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad announced on Tuesday that Ambassador Steven Fagin has been appointed as Chargé d’Affaires.

“Ambassador Fagin brings extensive knowledge of Iraq, having served here twice: first as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil (2018–20) and then as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad (2020–21),” the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad said in a statement.

Steven Fagin officially assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on May 29.

Since returning to the State Department in 1997, Fagin has held a range of diplomatic assignments across Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
