At Abha International Airport, two residents, a Moroccan woman and an Algerian woman, were killed.
GACA said 28 Saudi citizens and residents were injured, with their conditions ranging from minor to serious.
At King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, a Sudanese resident was killed and eight others were injured.
Those injured included five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents and one Pakistani resident, according to GACA.
All 36 injured people from the two incidents were taken to hospitals for treatment.
The attacks also caused material damage, although GACA did not provide details on the extent of the damage.
The aviation authority said it was coordinating with security agencies to assess the damage and implement measures aimed at protecting passengers and airport employees.
Authorities also said the measures were intended to maintain the safety and security of Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation system.
The attacks represent a significant security challenge for Saudi Arabia’s civilian aviation infrastructure, particularly as airports serve as critical hubs for passenger and commercial traffic.
The Saudi authorities have not, in the information provided, publicly identified those responsible for the attacks or specified the weapons used. Further official findings will be important in determining the nature of the incidents, their impact on airport operations and whether additional security measures will be introduced.
