Karzan Amirghafouri, spokesperson for the General Directorate of Police of the Kurdistan Region, told Channel8 that the Kurdistan Region Police maintains full coordination with the Iraqi Federal Police and Interpol.

He explained that any individuals committing crimes outside the Kurdistan Region, if apprehended within its borders, will be handed over to the Federal Police and the Interpol Police. Conversely, crimes committed inside the region but involving actors from outside will be managed similarly by the Kurdistan Police.

Amirghafouri stated: "We maintain full coordination with the Iraqi Federal Police and international Interpol authorities. This means that anyone committing a crime outside the Kurdistan Region and later entering our territory will be transferred to the Federal Police through our coordinated procedures. Similarly, if a crime occurs inside the region but involves someone from outside, it will be handled and handed over in the same manner."

Regarding the requirements for obtaining a firearms license, the spokesperson told Channel8 that the license process continues across all provinces and autonomous administrations. However, anyone applying must first provide proper documentation and meet certain conditions before being granted a permit.

He elaborated: "Applicants must meet specific criteria, including an appropriate age, and must not have any psychological, social, or criminal issues. Police records and relevant documents will be carefully reviewed to ensure the individual has no previous criminal history or unlawful behavior."
