The Counterterrorism Group (CTG) Directorate in Sulaymaniyah announced that, following “precise intelligence gathering,” a coordinated operation was carried out in Kirkuk province with support from international coalition forces and Iraq’s Counterterrorism Service.

Suspect Linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS

 According to the official statement, the arrested individual had “previously been a member of al-Qaeda” and later joined ISIS, continuing to operate within its ranks.

Provided Logistical Support to ISIS

The suspect had been “providing logistical support and essential supplies to ISIS until the time of his capture,” the Directorate confirmed.

 Transferred to Legal Authorities

 Following the arrest, the individual was “handed over to the legal authorities” to face prosecution under Iraqi law.
