Iraq Partners with Google to Offer Free AI Tools to University Students
Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has signed a strategic agreement with Google to provide its advanced Gemini Pro artificial intelligence suite free of charge to all university students across the country for one year.
Starting Thursday, students enrolled in both public and private universities will gain complimentary access to AI tools that typically cost $240 annually. The package includes the powerful Gemini 2.5 Pro model, designed for handling complex tasks, and the Veo 3 model, which specializes in video generation.
These tools will be seamlessly integrated into widely used Google applications such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet. Students will also benefit from extended use of NotebookLM and receive 2 terabytes of cloud storage to support their academic work.
This initiative represents a major step in Iraq’s digital transformation strategy for the education sector. By equipping students with cutting-edge AI resources, the Ministry aims to cultivate a tech-savvy generation ready to thrive in the global knowledge economy.
