The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq has published comprehensive statistics on candidates registered for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The report breaks down the numbers by gender, political affiliation, and minority quota allocations.
Total Registered Candidates: 7,754
According to the Commission, “a total of 7,754 individuals have registered across Iraq to run in the next parliamentary elections.” Of these:
- “5,504 candidates are male”
- “2,250 candidates are female”
Breakdown by Political Affiliation
The statistics reveal that:
- “3,230 candidates are affiliated with political parties”
- “4,449 candidates are running under political alliances”
Independent Candidates and Minority Quotas
A total of 75 individuals registered as independent candidates. Among them, 22 are competing for general seats, while the remaining 53 are vying for minority quota seats distributed as follows:
