Dr. Abdulkarim Omar, Representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Damascus, told Channel8 that an agreement has been reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Damascus with the aim of protecting the Kurdish people from genocide and mass killings.

He emphasized that this step is intended to safeguard the achievements made in the region during these difficult circumstances.

Preserving National Identity and Culture

The representative of the Autonomous Administration stressed that one of the main goals of the agreement is to implement the rights designated for the Kurds, particularly in the areas of protecting the Kurdish language and culture. This measure is seen as a way to prevent the erasure of national identity in the region.

Struggle for Political Rights

Dr. Abdulkarim Omar stated that the Kurdish people possess political rights and will continue their struggle to secure all of them. He highlighted that their ultimate goal is for Kurdish national and political rights to be formally recognized and enshrined in Syria’s future constitution.
