Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said there is no reason for optimism over U.S. President Donald Trump’s reported pressure on European allies and Ukraine, cautioning that negotiations to end the war remain far from resolution.

Speaking to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti on Tuesday, Lavrov said that “there is still a long way to go” in discussions related to a potential peace settlement in Ukraine.

Lavrov did not provide details on the nature of Trump’s pressure or specify which European governments were involved. His remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts and shifting political dynamics surrounding the war, now in its third year.
